Client: Mr Roger Vaughn.
Site Address: Trewelloe Road, Praa Sands, Cornwall TR20 9SU.
Background to the Job
Mr Vaughan asked us to look at his parents’ flat roof at their property in Praa Sands. We visited the site at a time suitable for him and his parents and took measurements and other details. During our site visit we advised on the condition of the roof and the best approach to rectify the problem.
We then provided Mr Vaughn with a detailed email of our findings, along with a quote for a GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) fibreglass flat roof.
The quotation was accepted and arrangements were made for a suitable date to start work.
Talking to Our Clients
As with all of our clients, Mr Vaughn was kept updated on progress. On completion of the job, another detailed email was sent to Mr Vaughn. This included information about the work undertaken, pictures taken during the job and an itemised invoice.
This picture was taken during the initial site visit. It was quickly established that the roof coverings were in a poor condition and that there would also be a chance of timber degradation. There were clear signs of the bitumen breaking down at the perimeter, allowing water ingress.
Peripheral materials were removed, allowing access to remove flat roof coverings. This exposed the degree of damage that had been caused by water ingress. Mr Vaughn was advised of damage at this stage. Wood degradation was removed and new treated timber were installed where required.
This picture shows the new GRP fibreglass detail applied. Prior to this, new insulation was installed in the roof cavity, which was then covered with a moisture-resistant timber deck. The necessary preformed fibreglass edge trims were installed with the appropriate lead detail at the point the flat roof meets the pitched elevation. A chopped strand matting was then applied using a polyester resin. Our workers are highly skilled in flat roofing, using appropriate methods throughout. You’ll also notice the neatness of the job.
Next, a grey-coloured topcoat was applied to the roof deck and edge trims. A new white UPVC fascia board and guttering were installed to provide a neat finish.
And here it is – the completed roof. This is a neat, leakproof, UV-resistant and low-maintenance roof.
